Resumo
The know thyself (Gnothi Seauton), inscribed in the temple of Delphi in Ancient Greece, and assigned to one of the Seven Sages of Antiquity, was popularized by Socrates, and after more than 2,400 years, it is still current. Some questions about this commandment went through the history of philosophy and still today are objects of reflections: why to know thyself? How to know thyself? What to know? The answers are in the very texts that describe the Socratic dialogues.Without intending to join the harvest of deep philosophical discussions, the author analyzes these reflections attributed to Socrates under the optics of the philosophy of religion and theology, without being tied to any particular religious group. With a language accessible and supported on messages of philosophers and spiritualists of all ages, like Buddha and Jesus, the assay allows the reader, even without previous philosophical knowledge, to reflect on one of the main messages of Antiquity for humanity.
