This is a work of non fiction.Getting cancer, reviewing Elton John and then I look back. 2016, diagnosed with cancer and a seemingly improbable scenario became possible: During that year I spent 33 weeks reviewing Elton John albums on “Stuff Nation” (an online news website) alongside updates about my initial Multiple Myeloma treatment. I looked at his 30 solo studio albums and gave them a critical, honest and personal appraisal, it was a worthwhile distraction. At the same time I battled with the gnarly chemo, drugs and stem cell transplant at the hospital. Home and work were also a challenge. All this is here to see. I was never paid and the website, being New Zealand, is of limited exposure so I thought what better way to show the world than put all the articles in a book. Not wanting to short change anyone I have also looked back on my humdrum life and found humour, well I thought these predicaments were funny, with a wish to share them. You get a taste of the best parts of my country with bits of London and Africa thrown in.From a fake asthma attack to a bomb in Hyde Park I reflect on a life worthwhile with the hope I have more to give and a few bits of fun to take. Mental health creeps in alongside the cancer crap so not all a load of laughs but I try. Remain positive and read this book.
